The gathering will begin at 1pm on Friday 4th March at the magnificent Norman Cathedral, dedicated to St Peter, St Paul and St. Andrew. Following short tours of this outstanding building, we will hear from the Director of Music, Tansy Castledine and from Andy Scott, Head Voicer at Harrison & Harrison on the revoicing of the four-manual Hill organ. Cathedral Organist, Chris Strange, will give a short recital on the organ. After tea, we will attend Choral Evensong and later in the evening we will return for Compline, preceded by a unique opportunity to enjoy and photograph the cathedral by candlelight.
At 10 am on Saturday morning, we will set off by coach to visit Oundle School, with its thriving music department and its internationally renowned organists' training scheme. Following a recital by some of the pupils and a special VIP lunch, we will set off to Wansford, the headquarters of the Nene Valley Railway in the beautiful Nene Valley. There will be time to look around the station before boarding the steam train for a round trip, bringing us back to the coaches for the short journey into Peterborough. The Gathering Dinner will take place at the Bull Hotel, where the guest speaker will be former Peterborough Cathedral Organist, Christopher Gower.
On Sunday we will attend the Cathedral Eucharist and then move into the New Building at the east end of the Cathedral for a buffet-style roast dinner. Choral Evensong will be followed by a farewell cup of tea and an opportunity to meet some of the choir.
