Gold Patrons’ Insight Event 2026
When: Saturday 20 June
Where: Westminster Abbey
Private Evening Tour of Westminster Abbey
This event is by invitation only, open to our Gold and Jubilate Patrons
For most visitors, Westminster Abbey is booked up to two years in advance. Through our partnership, Gold and Jubilate Patrons have access to a rare opportunity to experience the Abbey on a private evening tour, accompanied by live choral music.
This special event features performances by The Purcell Club, a male voice choir named after the celebrated composer Henry Purcell, who served as organist of the Abbey from 1679–1695. The choir is made up predominantly of former choristers from the Westminster Abbey Old Choristers’ Association, with guest singers occasionally joining.
What to Expect
Guests gather in the Cloister with a welcome from a member of The Purcell Club or Abbey clergy. The evening then begins in the Abbey’s Nave with the first performance of sacred music. Guests will be then guided through some of the Abbey’s most significant spaces, including:
- The Quire
- The Sacrarium
- The High Altar
- The Cosmati Pavement
- The Shrine of Edward the Confessor
- The Henry VII Chapel
- Poets’ Corner
At each stop, guests will learn about the history, architecture, and cultural significance of the Abbey.
Musical Interludes
Throughout the tour, The Purcell Club will perform choral music spanning five centuries, from the 16th to the 21st century. The evening concludes with the Abbey lights dimmed for a final piece of music.
