This term we have welcomed new staff, Sarah Collister, Music Administrator. Adam Heron, Organ Scholar. Liam Hickey, Tenor Choral Scholar. Joe Byles, Bass Lay Clerk. Pierce Cullen, Alto Lay Clerk. Tansy Castledine, our Director of Music has gone on parental leave after welcoming a little boy into her family.
Our Junior Choir sang at Harvest Services in the Cathedral and then at St John’s Church. The Cathedral Choir, Youth Choir and Festival Chorus performed the Brahms Requiem at St John’s Church during the Remembrance weekend.
We celebrated “Celebration Sunday” at Evensong in November and thanked the Cathedral Music Trust for their generous grant at a small reception after Evensong.
The Cathedral Choir sang for the “Lights Switch On” in the City. Our Senior Choristers have taken on the solos in The Snowman, which is about to be performed in the Cathedral.
We send congratulations to Jasmine Barnes, one of our girl choristers, on making the final three of the BBC Songs of Praise “Young Chorister of the Year”.
We are about to embark on our special Advent Services and the many services leading up to Christmas. We wish everyone a wonderful relaxing holiday when it finally arrives after the Christmas Day services.
