It was good to welcome a small but select gathering of people to Peterborough on Sunday 3 May. People had travelled from far and wide to be with us, from London, Scarborough, Oakham, Southwark & Minneapolis.
The afternoon began with a Tour of the Cathedral, led by one of our Cathedral tour guides. This was followed by tea and biscuits while observing organ and choir rehearsals. Evensong followed at 3.30pm with Walker: Oculi Omnium, Jackson in G, Leighton Responses & Stanford: Ye Choirs of New Jerusalem sung by the boy choristers, lay clerks and choral scholar. We then moved on to the Tea Party with drinks and cakes. The lay clerks and choral scholar provided light entertainment, which appeared to go down very well! The Dean Christopher Dalliston thanked the Cathedral Music Trust for their support and guidance and also our recently appointed Director of Music Christopher Strange for his outstanding musicianship and leadership of the music department.
We look forward to possible discussions of a weekend at Peterborough in the future.
